The E-Safety Group is a sub-group of the Safeguarding Board. There are a Primary and a Secondary Governor representative on the Group. Some of the areas that we are involved with are: Implementation of ‘Managing e-safety incidents’ policy Implementation of ‘Safer working practice’ policy Responsible user policy guidance/exemplar to consider the implications for Stockport of the ‘Nursery Z’ report training strategy/provision to communicate National opportunities, such as Child Safety Week & Safer Internet Day links with other groups/projects, such as Sexual Exploitation & Anti-bullying steering group
Safer Internet Day is an EU-wide initiative, which is on Tuesday 7th February 2012. The attached information sheet provides more details and a link to school resource packs. Whilst it may be too late to participate through your schools, the opportunities and threats that the internet presents to our schools are huge and the more we understand what they are the better. So, even if you are unable to take part on the day, please make sure that the member of staff responsible for Safeguarding is made aware of this initiative and the resources available. If you require further information on this, or any other issues relating to e-safety, please do not hesitate to contact me through the GOVAS website
