DEVELOPING EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY IN SCHOOL LEADERSHIP: A CONFERENCE OPPORTUNITY We have been asked to find a governor representative to attend a Conference on December 1st, from 9 to 12.30 at Old Trafford Cricket Ground. The Conference title is Different Leaders leading Differently in Greater Manchester. A group of Stockport representatives will be going, and they would like to include a governor. The Conference is organised by Rochdale Local Authority in conjunction with NCSL, the National College for Leadership of Schools and Children`s Services (formerly NCSL). It hopes to bring together the 10 Greater Manchester Las to consider the importance of providing greater opportunity and encouragement for potential school leaders from Black, Minority and Ethnic backgrounds. The aims are: • To identify and attempt to overcome barriers for black, minority and ethnic staff to develop leadership skills. • To target support, training and development to encourage BME staff to develop or take on leadership roles.
